Jennifer Scott asked:

Ballroom dance is usually a group of partner dances. This form of dancing originally came from Germany and is now something that is enjoyed both by many people. Today, ballroom dancing is practised both socially and competitively around the globe. The various elements of ballroom dancing are also visible on stage, film, television.

The term “ballroom dancing” comes from the word ‘ball’, which originally comes from the Latin word ‘ballare’. ‘Ballare’ can be roughly translated as “to dance”. In the days of old, ballroom dancing was something that was only enjoyed by the privileged classes, while “folk dancing” was practised by the lower classes. These distinctions have now become archaic, and ballroom dancing is now enjoyed by people all around the world, regardless of their economic and social background.

Regardless of your background, ballroom dancing is usually practised in a very formal environment with an emphasis on etiquette and formality. This means that while ballroom dancing can be highly passionate and exhilarating, there are also several important rules you must know in order to be able to be a good ballroom dancer. In this sense, ballroom dancing is not quite as ‘free’ form as other forms of dance.

If you live in the Melbourne area, and are interested in exploring the world of ballroom dancing, look no further. Rythemics dance studio will take you through all the motions and equip you with everything you need to be a great ballroom dancer.
Jennifer Scott asked:

Since the beginning of time, dancing has been one of the most primordial forms of expression. With the rise of our cultural identities, different regions around the world have developed their own unique dance forms and styles. These dance forms have come to represent an integral part of our cultural identifies and are often a major source of national pride. The desire to move to a beat is perhaps the most basic of all expressions available to human beings today!

However, as is generally the case with most things, many of us have become conditioned by society to feel shy and introverted and as a result, we have lost our natural ability to dance. The expression ‘two left feet’ could not be more prevalent in the world than it is today. As a result many of us shy away from dancing, and take a sideline seat while watching others on the dance floor. We all wish we could dance without appearing silly or making fools of ourselves. So what if this wish could be a reality? What if we could all find a way to engage in the natural expression of dancing without fear of being judged or labelled as left footed? What if we could learn to look forward to any and all opportunities to dance?

At Rythemics School of Dance, we are committed to helping you find your natural groove and dance away, long into the night. Rythemics is a dance school based in Melbourne that provides you with access to world class dance instructors. We have a wonderful facility that creates a fun atmosphere for you to gain a new skill while simultaneously having a great time. Rythemics offers a wide range of dance classes and will work with you to get you dancing in no time. To find out more about how to enrol in one of our classes or set up private lessons, take a look at our web-site, www.rythemics.com.au

.

Create a video blog

Groshan Fabiola asked:

ight be a Dancing with the Stars first, when two men, actor Steve Guttenberg and Jonathan Roberts performed the “man-go” during an encore performance of Guttenberg’s tango number. His original partner, Anna Trebunskaya, was sick so husband and Dancing with the Stars contestant himself, Jonathan Roberts obliged to fill in for her. And if the reception to the highly enjoyable performance were any indication, one would think Dancing with the Stars network ABC ought to seriously consider having same-sex dance partners on the dancing competition.

Asked about the possibility, ABC top guns have stated that they are not necessarily opposed to the idea. It will surely open doors for *** ballroom dancing by having same-sex dance partners perform on a hugely popular show. However, they also expressed concerns over the sort of implications such a move can potentially have.

Internationally, *** ballroom already has a growing, if not established, professional circuit. Dance sport, after all, is already an event in the *** Games, the world’s largest sporting event organized by LGBT athletes, set up in 1982. However, this has not reached American shores until late 2007 when the North American Same-Sex Partner Dance Association (NASSPDA) was born. The NASSPDA is a non-profit membership organization which seeks to provide “consistent standards, guidelines, definitions for same-sex competitions and the coordination of scheduling and dissemination” for competitive and social same-sex ballroom dancing in North America .

While there may be some who are initially averse to the idea, there are those who point out that American television has grown exponentially open to *** culture than, say, ten years ago. And while the memorable Dancing with the Stars performance was an accidental comic relief more than anything, it did present the potential of *** ballroom not only as entertaining but more so as a serious variation of the sport.

Kansieo.com

Ant Onaf asked:

There are so many different genres of dance that one can feel overwhelmed when he or she thinks of learning to dance. However it is not as complicated as it seems.

Firstly, to excel at a certain style it may take years of practice, to be able to cope with several types of dancing is not quite as hard. For many people who enjoy a range of activities, it is much more beneficial to learn a little about each style and not a lot about just one. This is because the usual person in today’s world will be exposed and often “pressured” into dancing at a variety of events. Therefore someone may encounter hip-hop, ballroom, and break dancing styles all in a very short period of time.

The purpose of this article is to give an overview of the main types of dance and some of the moves needed for each.

Hip-hop is a great dance style to be familiar with as it can be used whenever there is a faster beat. Also, don’t think that hip-hop is just for those with baggy pants and lots of neck chains, anyone can benefit from acquiring this skill.

The most basic element of this genre is time-steps, a name also used for ballet moves. These require that you step in certain directions in time with the beat that is playing. “Step-tap” is one of these moves where you step to one side and then follow with your other foot and tapping it as it lands, continue this left and right.

A variation of this is “tap-step” where you tap with your first foot. You can experiment with many variations of these time-steps and maybe even create some of your own.

Another basic movement which looks great with a fast beat is isolations, where you separate movement in the upper body from the lower body. This can mean moving your shoulders back and forward while the rest of your body is still or swiveling your ankles creating movement while the rest of your body is still. These moves are the basics of hip-hop dance and should help in any club or dance party.

Ballroom dances can be some of the most difficult to perform perfectly due to the high levels of coordination required. However with some very handy tips, you should be able to impress, even if it’s only at your next wedding.

Firstly, always move in a counterclockwise direction and the closer you are to the middle of the dance floor, the slower you should go. This is a helpful tip to remember as it gives direction and purpose which will affect the rest of your dancing. Another easy tip is that if you are a woman, you should start with your right foot as opposed to a man, who should lead with his left.

If you want to impress your dancing partner, try this one technique. Just before you launch off, lean into the direction you will go and lean according to how far you will step. This tells your partner you are ready to go and does not jerk them roughly. These tips will hopefully save you from embarrassment on the slower dance floors where everything is under scrutiny.

Although break dancing may sound like something you would never want to do let alone try doing, break dancing for beginners can give you a few simple moves that will help keep you in time with the beat while helping you relax and enjoy your time spent dancing.

These moves are for the club or disco although you are free to show them off at the next ball or wedding you attend. The first move is the hand glide and just requires you to put one hand on the floor and tuck the other into your chest, then use your free hand to push yourself around until you are spinning on your hand. You can go as fast as you can manage. A head spin is a great looking move which isn’t as hard as it seems, place your head and hands on the floor and spin around. Much practice may be needed!

Not only are these moves fun, but they are great at building muscle strength.

So don’t worry if you can’t master all of these techniques, as long as you got some handy tips then you are already much better off. You are probably now a much better dancer than the average person. If you were very intrigued by one or more of these styles then maybe you should take up a course in your local town or city in order to really improve your skills. You may not have seen yourself as a dancer but it is something that with a little practice, anyone can impress with.

Create a video blog…instantly.

Everyone looks gorgeous and the costumes are elaborately constructed. Flowing gowns, feathers, ruffles, bare midriffs, sparkles, and bangles, the costumes make or break the performance. Each costume is not complete without the perfect pair of dancing shoe to complement the look. Anyone watching can’t help but wonder how do the ladies dance in the high heels? The answer is that these shoes are specially constructed to provide comfort and support for the dancers. Men’s and women’s shoes alike are made to be attractive as well as functional. The suede soles allow the ladies to spin and keep their footing.

Ballroom dancing, Swing, Salsa or Smooth, is a popular way to stay in shape.

Website content

Website content
